Teen fatally shot and killed inside car in Howard County

BALTIMORE, MD — A 17-year-old was found dead inside a vehicle on Tuesday night in Howard County after what police believe was a targeted shooting.

The victim, identified as Lance Carrington, was discovered in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the 6000 block of Helen Dorsey Way around 8:30 p.m., according to Howard County Police. He had been shot at least once and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have stated they do not believe the incident was random and are investigating a possible drug-related motive. No suspect information has been released as the investigation remains ongoing.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. Police are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at 410-313-STOP or by emailing HCPDCrimeTips@howardcountymd.gov. Tips may be submitted anonymously.

Authorities continue to gather evidence and seek leads in the fatal shooting of the teen.
