QUEENS, NY — A Queens Village resident has been charged with multiple weapons offenses following the discovery of a cache of ghost guns and ammunition at his home, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced Thursday.
Jonathan Diaz, 37, was arrested after a search of his Hillside Avenue residence uncovered four fully assembled, loaded ghost guns allegedly produced with a 3D printer, along with additional firearm components and ammunition.
Diaz faces charges including four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and multiple counts of firearm possession. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
“This defendant, according to the complaint, amassed a collection of ghost guns and parts in his Queens home,” District Attorney Katz stated. “We are committed to finding and removing illegal homemade weapons from our communities.”
The search, conducted by the NYPD Financial Crimes Task Force in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations and other agencies, also recovered eight unserialized 3D-printed lower receivers, nine rounds of 9 mm ammunition, a 3D printer, and materials used to manufacture firearms.
Queens continues to lead New York City in ghost gun recoveries, reflecting growing concerns over the spread of untraceable firearms.
