Man injured in early morning shooting in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 34-year-old man was shot early Sunday morning on the 1400 block of South 53rd Street in the city’s 12th District, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:42 a.m., when the man sustained two gunshot wounds to the stomach. He was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia by a private vehicle before being transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police said no scene has been identified, and no motive for the shooting has been determined. No arrests have been made, and the weapon used in the incident has not been recovered.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather more information.
