UTICA, N.Y. — A 47-year-old Utica man has been arrested and charged in connection with a December 2024 burglary in which tools and equipment were stolen from a residence and garage, according to the Utica Police Department.

The incident occurred on December 20, 2024, when the victim reported that an individual, whom he was familiar with but could not fully identify, had burglarized his property. The victim stated he had previously allowed the suspect to borrow an item and later found the suspect removing items from his garage. Upon being confronted, the suspect fled the scene.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, which was able to positively identify the suspect as Robert Spano, 47, of Utica. On January 15, 2025, officers with the Community Outreach Team located Spano based on a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert disseminated by the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center.
