Mississippi man arrested in Maryland home invasion, assault

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 31-year-old man from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was arrested Monday following a violent home invasion and assault in Cumberland, Maryland, police said.

The incident occurred in the 100 block of W. Oldtown Road, where the Cumberland Police Department responded to a report of a burglary. According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Danarius Laquan Green, broke a window to enter the residence.

The victim told officers they were confronted by Green, who allegedly assaulted them and threw them into a door before stealing their cell phone and damaging property inside the home. Green fled the scene on foot following the attack.

Police located a man matching Green’s description nearby shortly after the incident. Authorities said Green provided a false name, but his identity was confirmed, and he was taken into custody.

Green was charged with multiple offenses, including robbery, first-degree burglary, home invasion, second-degree assault, and theft. He is being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
