Newark police seek help identifying suspect in package theft

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man suspected of stealing two packages from a residence on Lenox Street near Sanford Avenue last month, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. announced Tuesday.

The theft occurred at approximately 9:11 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024. According to police, the suspect arrived at the residence on a bicycle, pretended to ring the doorbell, then took two delivered packages and fled. The stolen packages contained a car part and clothing.

Images of the suspect have been released by the Newark Police Department as detectives work to confirm his identity.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Newark Police Division’s Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips are confidential and may qualify for a reward.
