Police seek public’s help locating Newark man in armed robbery investigation

NEWARK, N.J. — Police are asking for assistance in locating Jamill Davis, 30, of Newark, who is wanted for questioning in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last week, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr.

The incident took place on Wednesday, January 15, around 5 p.m. on the 200 block of 18th Avenue. Authorities say the victim had arranged to buy a gaming system through Facebook Marketplace. Upon meeting the suspect, the individual claimed to have forgotten part of the system and led the victim toward a nearby building. As the victim reconsidered following, he was approached from behind and tapped on the shoulder with what appeared to be a firearm. The suspect then demanded and stole $290 in cash that was intended for the purchase.

Detectives are seeking Jamill Davis for questioning. He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 155 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding Davis’s whereabouts or the robbery is encouraged to contact the Newark Police Department.
