Teen girl attacked on Union Square subway platform; suspect at large

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Police are investigating an assault that occurred Tuesday morning at the Union Square subway station, where a 16-year-old girl was struck in the face by an unidentified woman who fled the scene.

The incident took place at approximately 6:58 a.m. on the southbound platform. Authorities say the suspect approached the victim and struck her in the face with a closed fist, causing redness and swelling to the victim’s left eye. The suspect then fled the station on foot in an unknown direction.

Emergency Medical Services treated the victim at the scene, and she did not require hospitalization.

The suspect remains unidentified, and police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating her.
