Driver arrested after Mercedes hits multiple pedestrians in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A silver 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 struck multiple pedestrians at 1400 Spring Garden Street on Sunday evening, leaving eight people injured before the vehicle was stopped by police.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:31 p.m., according to authorities. Victims sustained injuries ranging from minor pain to fractures, though none of the injuries have been reported as life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Rebekah DeShields of Narberth, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody at the scene. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that DeShields faces several charges, including aggravated assault, driving without a license, simple assault, and reckless driving.
