Ex-Boyfriend of Missing Warren Woman Charged with Lying to Police

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – Deandre Howard Booker, a 32-year-old man from Roseville, has been charged and arraigned for lying to police officers during the investigation into the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Lashay Elkins. The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities allege that between January 4 and January 7, 2025, Booker repeatedly provided false and misleading information to police officers, hindering their efforts to locate Elkins. He has been charged with Lying to a Police Officer During a Violent Crime Investigation, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

Booker was arraigned in Roseville District Court, where District Court Judge Alyia Hakim set bond at $250,000 cash/surety only. If bond is posted, Booker will be required to wear a steel GPS tether. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. via Zoom, followed by a Preliminary Exam on January 29, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in person before District Court Judge Joseph Boedeker.

While it is feared that Ms. Elkins is dead, police have not yet charged Booker with the crime and she has not been located.

“Our hearts go out to the family of the missing woman during this difficult time,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Providing false information to law enforcement in a case like this not only hinders the investigation but adds further pain and uncertainty for the loved ones searching for answers. We remain committed to seeking justice and ensuring that every effort is made to bring resolution to this case.”
