NEW YORK — Federal authorities have begun a coordinated operation in New York City to apprehend and remove criminal illegal aliens, officials announced Monday. The joint initiative involves multiple agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The enhanced operation focuses on individuals with criminal convictions or other factors that pose a threat to public safety or national security, according to a statement from ICE. The agencies are targeting specific individuals for enforcement actions, prioritizing those with violent crime records.
“This operation is aimed at safeguarding our communities by removing individuals who have broken not only our immigration laws but also our criminal laws,” said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Noem emphasized that the effort aligns with the department’s commitment to maintaining national security and public safety.
Officials did not disclose the number of arrests made so far but confirmed that teams are working across the five boroughs to execute targeted operations. The collaboration between federal agencies is part of a broader strategy to enforce immigration laws while addressing criminal activity linked to undocumented individuals.
