Child Abducted by Car Thief in Philadelphia Found Safe

PHILADELPHIA — Police in the 22nd District responded to a reported child abduction late Monday night after a vehicle was stolen with a 4-year-old boy asleep inside.

The incident occurred at 11:56 p.m. on the highway at 30XX W. Susquehanna Avenue when a white Toyota RAV-4 was taken. A 911 caller reported the theft, prompting a swift police response.

Authorities located the vehicle at 2900 W. Flora Street at 12:38 a.m. The child was found alone inside the car but was unharmed, police said.

Investigators have not released a description of the suspect. The vehicle has been secured for fingerprint analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

Central Detectives are leading the case as police work to determine who was responsible for the theft.
