Man fatally shot in Northeast D.C. hallway

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A deadly shooting inside a Northeast D.C. residential building left 24-year-old Thomas Drew Jr. of Bowie, Maryland, fatally wounded, prompting an active homicide investigation.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Benning Road shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, where they found Drew suffering from gunshot wounds in a hallway. He was transported to a nearby hospital, but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or motive as the investigation continues.
