Wilmington man arrested on gun charge linked to 2021 Newark hotel shooting

NEWARK, Del. — A Wilmington man who had been wanted for years in connection with a 2021 hotel shooting in Newark was arrested Tuesday, authorities said.

Abian Plenty, 25, was taken into custody by Newark police after being identified as a person present during the shooting. Investigators determined that Plenty was seen on video fleeing the scene with a firearm, leading to a warrant for his arrest on one count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Plenty had been a fugitive since the warrant was issued. Newark police officers located and arrested him on Jan. 28. Authorities did not release details on how he was found.

Following his arrest, Plenty was processed and arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2, where he was granted $10,000 unsecured bail, meaning he was released without needing to post money upfront.

Police have not disclosed whether additional charges or arrests are expected in connection with the 2021 shooting.
