Off-duty NYC sanitation worker arrested for assault in Manhattan

NEW YORK, N.Y. — An off-duty New York City sanitation worker was arrested Friday morning and charged with assault in Manhattan’s 7th Precinct, police said.

Edison Orellana, 53, was taken into custody at 10:36 a.m. and charged with third-degree assault. Authorities have not released details regarding the circumstances of the incident.

Orellana is employed by the New York City Department of Sanitation. Officials have not commented on his current employment status following the arrest.

The case remains under investigation by the NYPD.
