ABERDEEN, Md. — A retired federal worker from Harford County won a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize after playing his children’s birth dates, a strategy he has stuck with since they were born.

The Aberdeen resident purchased the winning ticket for the Jan. 30 drawing at the Aberdeen Shell on Middleton Road. While checking the results on his phone, he realized his numbers matched and secured the game’s top prize.

A dedicated Bonus Match 5 player, he never misses a drawing and plans to use his winnings to pay bills. His ticket marks the third top-prize-winning Bonus Match 5 ticket sold in 2025.

The Aberdeen Shell location will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
