MAYS LANDING, NJ – A Mays Landing man was sentenced Tuesday to four years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to third-degree aggravated assault in connection with a violent domestic incident at an Absecon hotel.

On March 23, 2024, officers from the Absecon Police Department responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at the Travelodge on Absecon Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found a victim in the hotel lobby with significant facial injuries, including missing teeth.

Authorities determined that the victim had argued with her boyfriend, LaQuay Taylor, 33, inside their hotel room before the dispute escalated. As the victim attempted to flee, Taylor chased her down the hallway and struck her multiple times with a closed fist.

Taylor fled the scene before police arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was apprehended shortly after the incident.

Taylor’s sentencing follows his guilty plea to third-degree aggravated assault, concluding the case nearly a year after the attack.
