PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removed Serafin Leon Rojas, a Mexican national with a final order of removal, to Mexico on Feb. 4. Leon is wanted by Mexican law enforcement authorities on domestic violence charges.
“The removal of Serafin Leon Rojas demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that criminal aliens face justice,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Brian McShane.
Leon was first apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol near Laredo, Texas, for entering the United States without inspection or parole. He was issued a notice and order of expedited removal, charging inadmissibility, and was deported to Mexico on July 23, 2016.
He later reentered the U.S. at an unknown location and date. The Philadelphia Police Department arrested him on Aug. 7, 2024, for driving under the influence, a charge that remains pending.
ICE took Leon into custody in Philadelphia on Dec. 12, 2024, during a routine enforcement action and reinstated his previous removal order. He remained in ICE custody until his deportation.
Leon’s removal highlights ICE’s ongoing efforts to detain and deport individuals with outstanding orders and criminal histories.
