Two charged in fatal Suitland shooting

SUITLAND, Md. — Prince George’s County police have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with a November 2024 fatal shooting in Suitland.

Francis Holmes Jr., 30, of Temple Hills, is charged with murdering Brian Speaks, 30, inside an apartment building on Parkway Terrace Drive. Detectives also arrested Marquis Anbaz, 28, who is charged with accessory after the fact.

Officers responded to the shooting on November 15 at approximately 5:45 p.m. and found Speaks suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Holmes shot Speaks over a dispute involving a third person, who was known to the suspect. Authorities say Holmes and Anbaz, who are in a relationship, conspired to hide the weapon after the shooting.

Holmes is charged with first- and second-degree murder and remains held without bond. Anbaz faces an accessory after the fact charge. The investigation remains ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit.
