BALTIMORE, MD — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested an Uzbekistani national convicted of a sex offense in Maryland, officials announced Tuesday.

Islom Gaziev, 65, was taken into custody on Feb. 4 in Owings Mills by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Baltimore officers.

“Every arrest like this means one less predator on our streets today and one less potential victim tomorrow,” said ERO Baltimore acting Field Office Director Matthew Elliston. “Our top priority is public safety, and this arrest is yet another example of our commitment to protecting the residents of Maryland.”

Gaziev lawfully entered the United States through John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Oct. 20, 2015, but later violated the terms of his lawful admission.

He was arrested by the Westminster Police Department on Aug. 20, 2024, and later convicted in Carroll County Circuit Court on Dec. 13, 2024, of a fourth-degree sex offense. He was sentenced to three years of supervised probation.

Following his arrest, ICE served Gaziev with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. He remains in ICE custody pending further legal proceedings.

Authorities say the arrest underscores ICE’s continued efforts to detain and remove individuals who pose a threat to public safety.
