Lucky numbers pay off for Maryland woman with big lottery win

Pile of money.

HUGHESVILLE, Md. — A Charles County lottery player took home a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize after a ticket she purchased at Jimmies Wine & Spirit matched all the winning numbers in the Nov. 17 drawing.

The Southern Maryland resident, a longtime lottery player, was in disbelief when she scanned her ticket and saw the jackpot message. She initially thought there was an error and cleaned her glasses multiple times to confirm the win.

Her winning numbers were a combination of birth dates and random selections. A government employee, she plans to use some of her winnings on home improvements and save the rest.

Jimmies Wine & Spirit, located at 6270 Brandywine Road, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
