Deadly Southeast DC shooting leaves one dead, another hospitalized

WASHINGTON, DC — A man was killed and another wounded in a double shooting Tuesday afternoon in Southeast, prompting a homicide investigation, officials said.

Seventh District officers responded around 2:44 p.m. to reports of gunfire at a residential building in the 2000 block of 19th Place, Southeast. Upon arrival, they found two adult male victims, both conscious and suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Aaron Thomas Jr. of Owings Mills, Maryland. The condition of the second victim has not been released.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information is urged to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411.
