Dundalk fisherman reels in $50K scratch-off prize

DUNDALK, MD — A Baltimore County man who enjoys fishing ended up catching a much bigger prize when he reeled in a $50,000 win on a MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off ticket.

The lucky winner, a warehouse worker from Dundalk, purchased the $10 instant ticket at Quick Mart 11 on Wise Avenue. When scratching his ticket, he revealed a X50 symbol, meaning the prize underneath would be multiplied by 50. Instead of the $10 prize he expected, he was stunned to uncover a $1,000 prize—multiplied to $50,000.

The MONOPOLY X50 game, which launched last month, has now awarded its first $50,000 second-tier prize. Two of the 10 top prizes of $100,000 have already been claimed by players in Hyattsville and Severna Park. Nine more second-tier prizes and 24 $10,000 third-tier prizes remain unclaimed.

The game is part of the Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY scratch-off series, which also features a Second-Chance Promotion. Players with non-winning tickets can enter them into My Lottery Rewards for a shot at rolling cash jackpots and $5,000 prizes in monthly drawings from February to July.
