Woman attacked in attempted rape in Brooklyn

NEW YORKPolice are searching for a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape and robbery that took place Tuesday morning in Brooklyn’s 84th Precinct.

According to the NYPD, the attack occurred around 10:50 a.m. near Montague Street and Henry Street. A 51-year-old woman was standing in the lobby of a building when an unidentified man approached her, forced her into a basement stairwell, and assaulted her. The suspect punched the victim, attempted to rape her, and stole her chain, cellphone, and purse before fleeing on foot toward Henry Street.

The victim suffered facial lacerations, scratches, and bruising across her body. She was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect and urge anyone with information to contact the NYPD.
