Mischief Turns Into Hate Crime in Midtown

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for vandalizing multiple vehicles with racial slurs in Midtown Manhattan.

The incident occurred on Thursday, January 30, at approximately 8:19 p.m. in front of 138 West 38th Street. An unidentified individual used a black marker to deface several vehicles before fleeing westbound on West 30th Street toward 8th Avenue, police said.

No injuries were reported, and the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is leading the investigation.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, medium build, and glasses. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black jacket, and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD as the search for the suspect continues.
