TEANECK, N.J. — A man was arrested for driving under the influence early Sunday morning after crashing his vehicle into a tree near the Englewood border, police said.

Officers responded at approximately 2:09 a.m. to the intersection of Englewood Avenue and Spruce Street following multiple reports of a motor vehicle crash. Police determined that a single vehicle had left the roadway, struck a tree, and caused minor property damage, including to landscaping and a fence. The vehicle also ran over a traffic control sign.

The driver, identified as Shawn Wolfe, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. Police said Wolfe admitted to drinking alcohol before the crash, and officers observed open containers inside his vehicle. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence in violation of state law.

Under John’s Law, Wolfe was released into the custody of a family member. His vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.
