Woman Wearing California Strong T-Shirt Arrested for Looting in Pacific Palisades

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — A woman was arrested Friday after allegedly looting a fire-damaged home in Pacific Palisades, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Officers responded to a residence around 1 p.m. after receiving reports of a burglary but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim provided a description of both the suspect and their vehicle, which was traced to an address in Valencia.

CHP Newhall officers were dispatched to the address, where they found and arrested Karen Mastey. Authorities said she was in possession of antique items stolen from the home.

Mastey was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on charges of grand theft under California Penal Code 487(a).

CHP officials said they remain involved in recovery efforts in the Pacific Palisades area following recent wildfires. “I am incredibly proud of the swift action taken by our officers to protect the public and prevent further harm,” said CHP Southern Division Chief Margaris.
