Jovav Santos-Bautista arrested for DWI after hit-and-run crash in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — A Mansfield Township man was arrested Sunday after allegedly fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run crash while intoxicated, Hackettstown police said.

Officers responded to Grand Avenue and Beatty Street around 3:28 p.m. after a pickup truck struck another vehicle and fled, authorities said. A witness followed the truck to a residence on College View Drive, where police found the driver, identified as Jovav Santos-Bautista, 27.

Police said Santos-Bautista smelled of alcohol and had open beer containers in his vehicle, including a half-filled Modelo can in the center console.

He was charged with multiple offenses, including hindering prosecution, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to Warren County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.

A witness helped lead police to a suspected drunk driver who allegedly fled a crash in Hackettstown.
