PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – A Clinton man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing a man during a robbery in Oxon Hill more than two years ago.

On Monday, a judge handed 32-year-old Darryl Scottland a life sentence, plus 23 additional years, for the November 2, 2022, killing of 47-year-old Anthony Taylor Sr., Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy announced.

Around noon that day, Scottland attempted to sell a pair of headphones outside Discount Tobacco on Indian Head Highway. Taylor showed interest and went inside to withdraw $200 from an ATM. As Taylor looked away, Scottland stole the remaining cash from his pocket and ran. When Taylor followed him, Scottland stopped, pulled out a knife, and stabbed him in the neck. Taylor collapsed and died in the parking lot.

Scottland was convicted of first-degree felony murder, first-degree assault, and possession of a dangerous weapon on January 30. His sentence ensures he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
