Lottery Scratch Off Tickets

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Valentine’s Day gift turned into a life-changing surprise for an Allegany County woman who won $100,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket.

The woman, a casual lottery player, received a MONOPOLY X50 scratch-off from a family member and quickly realized she had matched the winning number 40, securing the game’s top prize.

“I had to have a family member look it over,” she said, still in disbelief over her win. After confirming the ticket’s value, she described the experience as completely unexpected.

A retired transportation worker, the winner has not yet decided how she will spend the prize money but said she would be open to playing again if gifted another ticket.

The lucky ticket was purchased at the Cumberland 7-Eleven on Maryland Avenue, which will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning scratch-off.

The Maryland Lottery continues to award major prizes across the state, with scratch-off games offering various levels of winnings.
