TRENTON, N.J. — A bill advancing in the New Jersey Legislature would require hospitals and birthing facilities to show an informational video on water safety to new parents before discharge.
If you’re one of the families leaving the hospital with a newborn baby after navigating through the state’s pro-abortion gauntlet, you will have to take the class if the bill is passed.
Assembly Bill 4753, reported favorably by the Assembly Children, Families and Food Security Committee, mandates that the Department of Health (DOH) create and distribute a video highlighting the risks of drowning for children. It would cover bathtub and pool safety, the importance of swimming and water rescue skills, and the use of flotation devices and pool safety equipment.
The video must be shown to new parents and any adult family members present at the infant’s birth. Hospitals and birthing centers would be required to incorporate it into their discharge procedures. The DOH may distribute the video through its website or other electronic means.
If enacted, the measure aims to improve awareness of drowning risks and promote water safety education for families.
