Driver on shredded tires busted for DUI in Stafford County after Jeep blocks driveway

STAFFORD, VA — A Virginia man with a history of impaired driving was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies found him passed out behind the wheel of a Jeep with shredded tires, surrounded by open beer bottles, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Key Points

  • Alfredo Hernandez Murrieta, 33, arrested for second DUI offense after being found passed out in a Jeep with shredded tires.
  • Deputies observed open beer bottles and signs of intoxication at the scene.
  • Murrieta faces multiple charges and is being held without bond.

Deputy A.G. Hart responded to a report of a possible drunk driver on Ferry Road around 5:29 a.m. on March 22. Callers reported the Jeep was operating on two destroyed tires and showing clear signs of impaired driving.

Upon arrival, Deputy Hart quickly located the vehicle, which was blocking a private driveway and still in drive. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Alfredo Hernandez Murrieta of Kinsale, appeared unconscious behind the wheel. Once awakened, deputies noted multiple indicators of intoxication.

Authorities said open containers of alcohol were found inside the vehicle in plain view. Further investigation revealed that Murrieta did not possess a valid driver’s license and had a prior DUI conviction.

Murrieta was charged with DUI second offense within five years with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, reckless driving, second offense driving without a license, and drinking while driving. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
