BALTIMORE, MD — A retired banker from northeast Baltimore won the $50,000 top prize playing the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game, thanks to her go-to strategy of using random Quick Pick numbers.

The woman, an arts and crafts hobbyist, discovered her win after scanning her ticket and receiving a message directing her to Lottery Headquarters. “I was shocked. It was an unbelievable feeling,” she said.

Unlike many players who stick to favorite numbers, the winner said she prefers not to think about it. “I just play. I don’t need to worry about playing the same numbers,” she added.

She is still undecided on how she’ll spend the windfall.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Giant supermarket located at 11399 York Road in Cockeysville, which will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
