A spokesperson for the Vice President confirmed that Vance will receive operational and strategic updates during his visit and will deliver formal remarks to troops on the base. This trip marks the Vice President’s first official visit to the Arctic installation since taking office.
Vance is traveling with a delegation that includes Second Lady Usha Vance, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Utah Senator Mike Lee. Former Homeland Security Advisor Julia Nesheiwat, who is married to Waltz, is also accompanying the group.
Marine Two landed at Joint Base Andrews at 6:03 a.m., carrying the Vice President and Second Lady. After disembarking, they boarded Air Force Two for the flight to Greenland. Vance did not stop to speak with reporters before boarding the aircraft.
The itinerary has not been publicly released in full, but the visit is expected to focus on national security, energy resilience in Arctic environments, and U.S. military readiness in the region. The presence of key administration and congressional figures underscores the strategic importance of the location.
