Man shot dead near his Bronx home in late-night attack

BRONX, N.Y. — A 38-year-old man was shot and killed late Friday night near his residence in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 11:57 p.m. reporting a shooting at the intersection of West 165th Street and Nelson Avenue, within the 44th Precinct. Upon arrival, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Emergency Medical Services transported the man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The victim has been identified as Alexis Sanchez, 38, of 103 West 165th Street, just steps from where the shooting occurred.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have not released information on a suspect or motive.

The NYPD is continuing its investigation and canvassing the area for surveillance footage and witnesses.
