Gunfire claims teen’s life in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC — An 18-year-old man was shot and killed late Saturday night in Southeast DC, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Just after 11 p.m. on March 29, officers responded to the 3300 block of 10th Place, Southeast, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found an adult male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Jose Walters of Southeast DC, was unresponsive at the scene.

DC Fire and EMS transported Walters to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite emergency life-saving efforts.

Authorities have not released information on a suspect or motive, and the case remains under active investigation. Officials are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying any individuals or vehicles connected to the incident.
