CHESAPEAKE, VA — A body was found in a pond near the intersection of Woodlake Drive and Sentinel Drive on Sunday afternoon, prompting an active investigation by the Chesapeake Police Department.

Police respond to call about body in water

Chesapeake officers were dispatched around 2:17 p.m. after receiving a report of a deceased person in a pond near the intersection of Woodlake Drive and Sentinel Drive. Upon arrival, officers located the body.

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

The Chesapeake Police Department confirmed the incident remains under active investigation. No details regarding potential foul play or the cause of death were disclosed as of Sunday evening.

Investigators remained on scene for several hours to collect evidence and document conditions at the location.
