PERTH AMBOY, NJ — The Perth Amboy Police Department has confirmed that a widely shared social media post claiming a missing child was found at their station is a hoax.

Officials stated that no such child has been located in the city and the same post has circulated in multiple locations, including Virginia, Ireland, and other parts of the U.S., with only the city name altered. Authorities emphasize that the post is part of a misinformation campaign.

Police urge the public not to share the false post, to report it, and to rely on verified sources for accurate updates. Questions may be directed to (732) 442-4400.
