Young Adult Police Commissioners Collect Over 600 Pounds of Trash at Monitor Merrimac Overlook Park

NEWPORT NEWS, VA — On Wednesday, members of the Young Adult Police Commissioners participated in a beach cleanup at Monitor Merrimac Overlook Park, the Newport News Police Department’s designated “Adopt-A-Spot.”

The site also serves as a memorial to fallen officer Katie Thyne.

During the event, participants collected more than 619 pounds of trash and debris.
