Drive-by shooting rattles neighborhood near Dover

Delaware State Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in the Rodney Village community near Dover.

At approximately 4:51 a.m. on May 3, troopers responded to a report of gunfire at a residence on the 300 block of Samuel Paynter Drive. According to investigators, an unidentified vehicle stopped in front of the home and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and no suspects have been identified.

Authorities have not disclosed the type of vehicle involved or how many shots were fired. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police seek witnesses in Rodney Village shooting

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the case. Officials are asking anyone with information to contact Detective S. Raza at (302) 698-8521 or submit tips through Delaware Crime Stoppers or via private message on the agency’s Facebook page.

No arrests have been made, and police are continuing to canvass the area for surveillance footage and additional witnesses.
