Brooklyn teen shot in the head dies at Kings County Hospital

A 17-year-old boy has died after being shot in the head in Brooklyn, according to the New York Police Department. The victim, identified as Tamari Carmona, was found with a gunshot wound and later pronounced dead at the hospital. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot near West 23rd Street in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and transported Carmona to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. He was pronounced deceased on Thursday.

The NYPD confirmed the victim’s identity and home address as 2946 West 23rd Street in Brooklyn. Authorities have not released details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or any potential motive.

There were no witnesses immediately identified at the scene, and officials said that surveillance footage is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. Detectives from the 60th Precinct and NYPD’s Brooklyn South Homicide Squad are handling the case.
