CLEVELAND, Ohio — A fifth-grade teacher at Toll Gate Middle School in Pickerington is headed to the Ohio State Fairgrounds with her class after being named the winner of the Ohio Lottery’s Teacher Appreciation Week Field Trip Giveaway.

Lauri Davies was selected in a drawing from all educators nominated for the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education Teacher of the Month program between September 2024 and March 2025.

Davies and her fifth-grade students will visit the Natural Resources Park at the fairgrounds, where Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) experts will guide them through educational exhibits, including a geological walk, arboretum tour, wildlife history, and a visit with Smokey the Bear.

In addition to the field trip, the school received a $500 gift card from the Ohio Lottery.

The Partners in Education initiative recognizes outstanding student and educator achievements each month from September through May. Nominations can be submitted online by the 10th of each month at the Ohio Lottery’s website.

The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education since 1974.
