ROCKVILLE, MD — A Rockville man is facing felony charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at another driver during a road-rage dispute on Interstate 270, Maryland State Police said.
Joshua Johnson, 43, was arrested following the May 15 incident near Montrose Road in Montgomery County. He is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony crime. Johnson was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Center, where he was arraigned and ordered held without bond.
According to state police, troopers from the Rockville Barrack responded to an emergency call from a motorist who reported that the driver of a black Hyundai Santa Fe had brandished a firearm during an altercation. The victim was not injured.
Troopers located and identified Johnson as the suspect following the complaint. Authorities have not disclosed whether a weapon was recovered at the scene or during the arrest.
Investigation ongoing as charges proceed
Officials said the investigation remains active. No further details about the confrontation or possible motive have been released.
Johnson remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
