Teen girl killed in dirt bike crash at Schenectady’s Central Park

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — A 17-year-old girl died Friday night after a dirt bike crash at Central Park in Schenectady, according to local authorities.

Police responded to the area near Duck Pond Road at approximately 8:49 p.m. on May 16 for reports of a serious accident involving a dirt bike. When officers arrived, they found the teen with severe injuries after she struck a chain barrier separating areas within the park.

Medics from the Schenectady Fire Department provided treatment at the scene before transporting her to Ellis Hospital, where she died shortly after arrival.

The identity of the victim has not been released. Officials have not confirmed whether the dirt bike was being operated legally within the park.

The Schenectady Police Department and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Team are jointly investigating the incident.
