SEAT PLEASANT, Md. — A 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Friday morning in Seat Pleasant, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Ray Eugene Williams of Seat Pleasant is accused of shooting and killing 51-year-old Timothy Furr of Baltimore during an argument. The two men were known to each other, investigators said.

Officers responded to the 6400 block of Greig Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday after receiving reports of a shooting. Williams was seen entering his apartment building nearby, prompting authorities to call a barricade situation.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Emergency Services Team responded to the scene and took Williams into custody without incident, police said. No additional injuries were reported.

The department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the fatal shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between the two men.

Suspect faces multiple murder charges

Williams is currently being held by the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. He faces charges of first- and second-degree murder as well as related offenses.

“The suspect shot the victim during an argument,” police said in a statement released after the arrest. Detectives have not disclosed the motive beyond confirming that the suspect and victim were acquainted.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is responsible for investigating all homicides that occur within Seat Pleasant’s city limits. This case remains under active investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department’s Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
