Man, 79, injured after being shoved during dispute inside Midtown business

A man in his 70s was hurt in Midtown after a verbal spat turned physical inside a business.

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — A 79-year-old man was injured after being pushed during a verbal dispute inside a Midtown commercial establishment late Sunday night, police said.

The incident occurred around 10:12 p.m. at 59 West 44th Street, where the victim was approached by an unidentified male who engaged him in a verbal altercation before pushing him into a chair.

The shove caused the elderly man to sustain a shoulder injury. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and treated the victim on site. He was not transported to a hospital.

Police said the suspect fled the location on foot in an unknown direction following the confrontation.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Suspect description released by NYPD

Authorities described the individual as a male with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, dark colored pants, dark colored sneakers, a black hat, and carrying a bookbag.

The motive behind the dispute remains unclear, and no weapon was displayed during the incident.

Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and witnesses that may assist in identifying the suspect.

“The unidentified individual fled on foot to parts unknown,” according to the NYPD.
