Missing Silver Spring woman struck and killed in College Park pedestrian collision

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A 77-year-old woman reported missing from Silver Spring was killed Sunday in a pedestrian collision in College Park, according to Maryland State Police.

Asenakech Amdrufael Negewo was struck by a vehicle on May 18. Troopers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian hit in the area. She was later identified as the missing woman from Montgomery County.

The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation. Authorities have not release d details about the driver or whether any charges are being considered.

Negewo had been previously reported missing, though officials have not confirmed when or where she was last seen prior to the crash. Her death is being handled as a fatal traffic incident.
