Illegal drugs discovered in damaged package at FedEx facility

STAFFORD, Va. — A package containing controlled substances was discovered Wednesday morning at a FedEx facility on Centreport Parkway after staff attempted to repackage damaged contents, authorities said.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the shipping center at 8:51 a.m. after employees opened a damaged parcel in accordance with company policy. While repacking the items, they found what appeared to be illegal narcotics.

Deputy M.N. Sayegh responded to the scene and collected the substances, which were not listed as typical shipping contents. The materials were submitted into evidence for further analysis.

Authorities have not disclosed the type or quantity of drugs recovered and did not confirm whether the intended recipient or sender has been identified.

An investigation is ongoing into the origin and destination of the drug-filled package. No arrests have been made at this time.
