LAVALLETTE, N.J. — Karen Lamb, widow of late Councilman Robert P. Lamb, announced Wednesday she is launching a write-in campaign for Lavallette’s Republican Primary on June 10, after being passed over to fill her husband’s vacant council seat.
Despite her long-standing service in the borough, including more than ten years as President of the Lavallette Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, Lamb was not selected to assume the remainder of her husband’s term.
“I am running because the people of Lavallette deserve a voice and a choice,” Lamb said. “My commitment to this community did not end with my husband’s passing. It deepened.”
Robert Lamb’s name remained on the ballot due to the timing of his death, which occurred after voting had begun. Karen Lamb’s campaign is now encouraging Republican voters to write in her name on the primary ballot.
Lamb emphasized transparency and public involvement in her campaign message. “I respect the process, but I believe it’s time the voters—not just a sitting council member and his wife behind closed doors—should decide who represents their interests,” she said.
