NEWARK, NJ — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a burglary suspect who stole an estimated $2,000 worth of cigarettes during a break-in at a convenience store in Newark early Wednesday morning.
According to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the suspect was captured on surveillance video at approximately 1:16 a.m. on May 21 forcing entry into Krauszer’s Food Store & Deli, located in the 200 block of Market Street.
Video footage shows the suspect using a metal object to pry open the store’s door before entering and leaving briefly. The suspect then returned with a black garbage bag, walked behind the counter, and filled it with several boxes of cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

The individual was seen wearing a black and white sweater during the burglary. No arrests have been made, and police are working to identify the suspect.
